How can we help you?

Find answers to common questions about sending money, cashing out, your wallet, and more.

Sending Money
How do I send money to someone in Haiti?
Open the Tchotcho Pay app, tap Send, and search for the recipient by username, phone number, or scan their QR code. Enter the amount in USDC (or USD โ€” we convert automatically), review the details, and confirm with your PIN. The recipient receives USDC in their wallet instantly.
Transfers between Tchotcho Pay users are always free. Fees only apply when loading funds or cashing out.
How fast does the money arrive?
Transfers between Tchotcho Pay wallets are instant โ€” typically under 5 seconds. This is because both sender and receiver are on the same platform; money moves as USDC on the Base blockchain with near-zero latency. There are no bank processing delays.
Can I send to someone who doesn't have a Tchotcho Pay account?
Yes. You can send money via a link โ€” the recipient receives an SMS or email with a claim link. They'll need to create a Tchotcho Pay account (takes 2 minutes) to receive the funds. Unclaimed transfers are returned to your wallet after 7 days.
Make sure the phone number or email is correct before sending. We cannot reverse a completed transfer.
What currencies can I send?
You fund your account in USD (via card, ACH, or wire). Tchotcho Pay automatically converts to USDC (USD Coin) on the Base blockchain. The recipient sees USDC in their wallet. When they cash out in Haiti, USDC is converted to HTG (Haitian gourdes) at the current market rate.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can send?
  • Minimum transfer: $1 USDC
  • Maximum single transfer: $500 USDC (unverified) ยท $5,000 USDC (KYC verified)
  • Daily limit: $200 USDC (unverified) ยท $5,000 USDC (KYC verified)
Complete KYC verification to unlock higher limits. See Account & KYC.
How do I load money into my Tchotcho Pay account?
You can fund your account four ways:
  • Debit or credit card โ€” 2โ€“3% fee, instant
  • ACH bank transfer โ€” lower fee, 1โ€“3 business days
  • Wire transfer โ€” for larger amounts, 1 business day
  • Receive from another user โ€” always free
Can I cancel a transfer after sending?
Transfers between Tchotcho Pay wallets are instant and irreversible โ€” just like handing someone cash. Always double-check the recipient and amount before confirming with your PIN. If you sent to the wrong person, contact them directly to request a return. If fraud is involved, contact support@tchotchopay.com immediately.
Can I schedule a recurring transfer?
Recurring transfers (weekly, monthly) are coming soon. In the meantime, you can manually send whenever you need to โ€” the process takes under 30 seconds once your account is set up.
Cash Out
How does cashing out work in Haiti?
There are three ways to cash out in Haiti:
  • Agent network โ€” Visit a Tchotcho Pay cash agent near you. Show them your QR code, they verify your identity, give you HTG cash, and your USDC is deducted. Takes 2โ€“5 minutes.
  • Local bank transfer โ€” We transfer HTG directly to your Haitian bank account. Same-day to next-day.
  • Keep as USDC โ€” Hold your balance in your wallet as a digital dollar savings account. No cash-out needed.
A 1% cash-out fee applies to agent and bank withdrawals. Keeping USDC in your wallet is always free.
How do I find a cash agent near me?
In the app, tap Cash Out โ†’ Find Agent to see a map of verified agents in your area. Each agent shows their zone, operating hours, and maximum cash-out amount. You can also filter by distance or city.
What is the HTG exchange rate?
The USDC โ†’ HTG rate is pulled from live market data and updated every hour. The current rate is displayed in the app before you confirm any cash-out. We apply a small FX spread (typically 0.5โ€“1%) on top of the mid-market rate. You'll always see the exact HTG amount you'll receive before confirming.
Is there a maximum cash-out amount per day?
  • Unverified account: $200 USDC per day
  • KYC verified: $5,000 USDC per day
  • Individual agent limit: Up to $500 USDC per transaction (varies by agent)
For larger amounts, you can split across multiple agents or use a bank transfer which has higher limits.
What if the agent doesn't have enough HTG cash?
The app shows each agent's current maximum payout capacity. If an agent can't fulfill your request, your USDC is not deducted โ€” you simply choose another agent or switch to a bank transfer. Agent float is replenished regularly throughout the day.
Can I cash out to a MonCash account?
MonCash integration is coming soon. Currently, cash-out options are: Tchotcho Pay agent (HTG cash), local bank transfer (HTG), or keeping USDC in your wallet. We'll announce MonCash support via the app and email.
My Account & KYC
What is KYC and why do I need it?
KYC stands for Know Your Customer โ€” it's a standard identity verification process required by financial regulations to prevent fraud and money laundering. Completing KYC unlocks higher transfer and cash-out limits, and is required for business accounts. The process takes about 3โ€“5 minutes.
What documents do I need for KYC?
You'll need one of the following:
  • Haitian National ID Card (front and back)
  • Passport (photo page)
  • Driver's License (front and back)
  • Permanent Resident Card
Documents must be valid (not expired) and clearly readable. Blurry or cropped images will be rejected.
How long does KYC approval take?
Most KYC reviews are completed within 15 minutes to 2 hours during business hours. In some cases it may take up to 24 hours. You'll receive a push notification and email when your verification is complete. You can continue using the app at lower limits while you wait.
My KYC was rejected. What do I do?
Common reasons for rejection:
  • Blurry or dark photo of the ID
  • Expired document
  • Name on document doesn't match account info
  • Document type not accepted
Re-upload clear, well-lit photos of a valid document. If you continue to have issues, contact support@tchotchopay.com.
How do I change my phone number or email?
Go to Profile โ†’ Settings โ†’ Account Info. Changing your phone number requires re-verification via OTP. Email changes are confirmed via a link sent to your new address. For security, some changes may require KYC re-verification.
How do I reset my PIN?
On the login screen, tap Forgot PIN. We'll send a 6-digit OTP to your registered phone number. Enter the OTP, then create a new 6-digit PIN. If you no longer have access to your phone number, contact support.
How do I close my account?
You can close your account by emailing support@tchotchopay.com. Before closing, you must withdraw or transfer any remaining USDC balance. We retain transaction records for 5 years as required by financial regulations.
Account closure is permanent and cannot be undone.
USDC & Your Wallet
What is USDC?
USDC (USD Coin) is a digital dollar โ€” a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, meaning 1 USDC always equals $1. It's issued by Circle, backed by actual US dollar reserves, and runs on the blockchain. Unlike cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, USDC does not fluctuate in value. It's safe to hold as digital savings.
Why does Tchotcho Pay use USDC instead of regular USD?
USDC on the Base blockchain enables:
  • Instant settlement โ€” no waiting 1โ€“3 days for bank wires
  • Near-zero fees โ€” Base network fees are fractions of a cent
  • 24/7 operation โ€” no bank hours or holiday closures
  • Dollar savings โ€” recipients in Haiti can hold USDC instead of gourdes, protecting against inflation
Is my USDC safe? What if Tchotcho Pay shuts down?
Your USDC is backed 1:1 by US dollars held in reserve by Circle (the USDC issuer). Tchotcho Pay does not use customer funds for lending or investments. In the unlikely event Tchotcho Pay were to shut down, you would be given advance notice and time to withdraw your balance.
Can I earn interest on my USDC?
Yield on USDC savings is on our product roadmap. Currently, your USDC balance does not earn interest but holds its dollar value. We'll announce savings features via email when available.
Can I send USDC to an external wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase, etc.)?
External wallet withdrawals are coming in a future update. Currently, USDC can be transferred to other Tchotcho Pay users, spent at merchants, or cashed out to HTG via agents or bank transfer.
This is intentional โ€” it keeps the platform focused on the remittance and marketplace use case. External withdrawal will be available in a later release.
What blockchain does Tchotcho Pay use?
Tchotcho Pay uses the Base network โ€” a Layer 2 blockchain built by Coinbase on top of Ethereum. Base offers:
  • Transaction fees under $0.01
  • Settlement in ~2 seconds
  • High security inherited from Ethereum
  • USDC natively supported
Marketplace
What is the Tchotcho Pay marketplace?
The marketplace is a built-in shopping feature inside the app where verified Haitian merchants list their products and services. You can buy food, groceries, phone top-ups, school fees, transport, and more โ€” paying directly with your USDC wallet. No cash needed.
How do I pay a merchant?
Three ways:
  • QR code โ€” Scan the merchant's Tchotcho Pay QR code in the app
  • In-app search โ€” Find the merchant by name or handle and tap Pay
  • Marketplace โ€” Browse listings and add to cart, pay at checkout
All payments are instant and confirmed by both parties via push notification.
Is there a fee to buy from merchants?
Buyers pay zero fees. The merchant pays a 1โ€“2% platform fee on their end. The price you see is the price you pay.
What if a merchant doesn't deliver my order?
Contact the merchant first through the in-app chat. If the issue isn't resolved within 48 hours, you can open a dispute through Transaction History โ†’ Dispute. Our support team will review and may issue a refund if the merchant is at fault. Merchants with repeated disputes are removed from the platform.
How do I become a merchant?
Visit our Merchant Sign-up page to apply. You'll need a government ID, business address, and payout method. Most applications are approved within 24โ€“48 hours. There's no setup fee.

How does Tchotcho Pay protect my money?

  • Biometric login (Face ID / fingerprint) supported
  • AML monitoring โ€” unusual activity is flagged and held for review

  • USDC reserves backed 1:1 by Circle โ€” funds are not lent or invested
I think my account has been compromised. What should I do?
Act immediately:
  • Open the app โ†’ Profile โ†’ Freeze Account (instant, blocks all outgoing transactions)
  • Change your PIN from a trusted device
  • Email security@tchotchopay.com with details
Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone โ€” including Tchotcho Pay staff. We will never ask for your PIN.
What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?
2FA adds a second layer of security. After entering your PIN, we send a one-time code (OTP) to your registered phone number for high-value transactions. You can enable 2FA for all logins in Profile โ†’ Security โ†’ Two-Factor Authentication.
Does Tchotcho Pay sell my personal data?
No. Tchotcho Pay does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes. We share data only as required by law (e.g., AML reporting) or with licensed KYC verification providers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is Tchotcho Pay regulated?
Tchotcho Pay operates as a Money Services Business (MSB) and complies with FinCEN regulations, AML/BSA requirements, and applicable financial laws. We conduct KYC on all users and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when required by law.
What is Tchotcho Pay's AML policy?
We use automated transaction monitoring to flag unusual patterns including large rapid transfers, structuring (multiple small transfers to avoid limits), and transfers to high-risk regions. Flagged transactions may be held for up to 72 hours pending review. Users found in violation of AML policies will have their accounts suspended and reported to authorities.
Troubleshooting
My transfer is stuck or pending. What do I do?
Transfers usually complete in under 10 seconds. If a transfer shows "pending" for more than 5 minutes:
  • Check your internet connection
  • Refresh the app (pull down on the home screen)
  • Check Transaction History โ€” it may have completed without showing a notification
If still stuck after 15 minutes, contact support@tchotchopay.com with the transaction ID.
During peak times or Base network congestion, transfers may take up to 60 seconds.
My card deposit failed. Why?
Common reasons:
  • Card issuer blocked the transaction (call your bank)
  • Insufficient funds on the card
  • Card flagged as international transaction โ€” enable international payments with your bank
  • Prepaid cards are not accepted
  • Card details entered incorrectly
Try a different card or use ACH bank transfer instead.
I can't log in to my account.
  • Make sure you're using the correct phone number
  • If you forgot your PIN, tap Forgot PIN on the login screen
  • If your OTP isn't arriving, check for SMS blocking or try after 60 seconds
  • If your account is suspended, you'll see a message โ€” contact support
The app is crashing or not loading.
  • Force-close the app and reopen
  • Check for app updates in the App Store or Google Play
  • Restart your phone
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app (your account data is cloud-saved)
If the issue persists, email support@tchotchopay.com with your device model and OS version.
I sent money to the wrong person. Can I get it back?
Transfers are instant and irreversible by design. Your first step is to contact the recipient and ask them to send it back. If you believe you were defrauded, report it to support@tchotchopay.com immediately with the transaction details. We cannot force a reversal but will investigate and may suspend the recipient's account if fraud is confirmed.
